Review of DIGITAL STORYTELLING by Carolyn Handler Miller

Title: Digital Storytelling
Author: Carolyn Handler Miller
Publisher: Focal Press
What It's About: Digital Storytelling is a thorough guide to creating digital media.
Why I Read It: If you want to reach an audience in today's world, one of the primary ways to do it is through digital media. I'm a storyteller, and I want to tell stories that reach people and impact them. This book looked like a very enlightening guide to creating for digital media.
What I Liked About It: Everything. Seriously, this is the most thorough guide on creating for digital media that I know of. I love the way Miller outlines the way people have told stories throughout history and how the interactivity of today's digital media actually has precedent in the past. The book is a study of digital media and how to create for each of the digital media platforms. It's a great book on storytelling and how to adapt your storytelling skills to the digital world. The book looks at the ways stories are more interactive, making them more engaging to an audience. What I loved most about this book is that it feels like a career guidebook for those who are interested in working in the world of digital storytelling. The book was a lot of fun to read and one that I keep picking back up to read through parts again and again.
